Grace Graduate News – Sammy

Rachel Armstrong (who now goes by Sammy) graduated from Grace in 2018. She went on to attend OPRF High School and was in the Cum Laude Society her senior year. In her time at OPRF she participated in theater, Spoken Word, Best Buddies, and her favorite extracurricular activity – Vocal Jazz! She sang in the choir all four years. She graduated with honors from OPRF this past May.

The past two years, Sammy worked at a café in Oak Park, Addis Café, where she served up waffles, specialty coffee, and espresso to customers every weekend. She worked at Grace one summer with the cleaning crew where she could be heard throughout the building singing along with her music, in true Sammy fashion.

Sammy took the next big step in her life this fall. She received the University Scholar Award and Global Award from the University of San Francisco and was accepted into their direct admit nursing program. We are so proud of her amazing accomplishment!

According to her family, Sammy has grown into a very compassionate person, caring and empathetic. She is truly engaged in social justice issues and wanting a better world for those less fortunate and/or marginalized. Nursing seems like the perfect fit for her.

We are excited for you, Sammy, and we look forward to keeping up with you in your future endeavors!
