Meet our 1st Grade Teacher – Mrs. Pederson
How long have you been a teacher?
I’m starting year 3 at Grace, but year 20 as a teacher!
What do you love the most about teaching at Grace?
Our staff team – this is a very dedicated staff (of teachers, administration, support staff and church workers) who are ALL driven to do their best for our students EVERY day and are always learning more to be the best they can be.
What is the best word to describe Grace?
Friendly – from parents to students to staff, everyone is smiling and greeting each other and looking for ways to help each other.
What is a unique experience, talent, or interest that you bring to your classroom to help shape the learning experience of your students?
Simple piano playing, which is leading to praise time Fridays with 1st and 2nd grade. I LOVE to worship God with music.
What is your favorite thing to do outside of school?
I love to run or walk outdoors (while listening to upbeat Christian music), and lounging in our pool.
What is your favorite Bible verse and why?
John 13:34
A new command I give to you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another.
We love because Jesus loved. He especially loved the unrighteous. Love knows no bounds and can break down walls. So, it is what I base my whole life on, and I strive to love all and help my students do the same, in little and big ways.
What is the best advice you’ve ever heard?
Two minds are better than one, and joy is a daily choice.
What is something that recently made you smile?
Seeing past students, and hearing about their recent adventures.
What is a weird or fun fact that you know?
George Washington had teeth made from hippopotamus ivory.
