Meet our 1st Grade Teacher Assistant – Ms. Raad

How long have you been a teacher at Grace?

This is my first year at Grace. I was a substitute teacher for 2 years in the local public schools prior to the pandemic. I also homeschooled my own kids during the pandemic and for one year when they were in early elementary school.

What do you love the most about teaching at Grace?

The kids!! Every day I leave with something heartwarming or hilarious (or both!) that my students have said or done.

What is a unique experience, talent, or interest that you bring to your classroom to help shape the learning experience of your students?

I love to read, and it is so much fun to see their reading ability grow steadily. The way their faces light up with new abilities or discoveries of something in a book is fantastic.

What is your favorite thing to do outside of school?

I love nature. If I had the time and proximity to do so, I would wander in the woods every day.

What is the best advice you’ve ever heard?

When things get tough, take life one moment at a time. You can do just about anything for 5 minutes, and that’s often all it takes to get past a difficult task.

What is something that recently made you smile?

My students every day! Also, maple trees halfway from turning green to red, and watching my own kids learn and grow.
