Meet our 3rd Grade Teacher – Mrs. Starrick

How long have you been a teacher at Grace?

This is my first year!

What do you love the most about teaching at Grace?

The community – every single person cares deeply for the success of each student and the school.

What is the best word to describe Grace?

Caring. The teachers, staff, and students all care so deeply for each and every person that walks through the doors of Grace. They care for the community, both those associated with the church and those that are not.

What is a unique experience, talent, or interest that you bring to your classroom to help shape the learning experience of your students?

I love to read! So, one of my goals is to help shape my students into people who also enjoy reading. I strive to make reading fun!

What is your favorite thing to do outside of school?

Read, run, and strength train.

What is your favorite Bible verse and why?

Romans 15:13 “May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope.”

I love this verse because I think we strive continuously to find joy and peace for ourselves. But this verse illustrates that we do not need to find these on our own; instead, we just need to trust and allow the Holy Spirit to fill us.

What is the best advice you’ve ever heard?

Do not let your past choices define who you are right now. You are more than the mistakes that you have made.

What is a weird or fun fact that you know?

The little blob of toothpaste on your toothbrush has a name – it’s called a nurdle!
