Meet our Junior High Math Teacher – Mrs. Ponce

How long have you been a teacher at Grace?

This is my 3rd year at Grace, and my 8th year teaching.

What do you love the most about teaching at Grace?

I love that Grace is a Christian school; the atmosphere of kindness and authenticity at Grace far outshines my experience teaching at public schools.

What is the best word to describe Grace?

Family. People know each other and care about each other like they are family, due to the small, inclusive community that Grace is.

What is a unique experience, talent, or interest that you bring to your classroom to help shape the learning experience of your students?

I bring a lot of music into the classroom, to match the vibe we have on any given day. If we play games, then we have upbeat music; if we are doing individual work, we enjoy calm music that fosters focus.

What is your favorite thing to do outside of school?

Play pickleball!!!!!!!

What is your favorite Bible verse and why?

Philippians 4:6-7 is my life verse. I was thrilled that we chose it as our school verse this year!

What is the best advice you’ve ever heard?

The best advice I’ve ever heard is captured in the above Bible verse: Worry about nothing; pray about everything.

What is something that recently made you smile?

When I found out that two of my 5th grade students (who take 6th grade math from me), Anders and Mikey, won the Reading Olympics for 5th grade.

What is a weird or fun fact that you know?

For every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction.
