Grace at the Reading Olympics

Three of our 5th graders made it to the regional/local Reading Olympics Competition. There were 12 schools from Oak Park and River Forest competing. Each school sends one team of three 5th grade students who already won their school’s competition.

There were 2 rounds of competition. The top ½ of the teams advanced to the second round. The teams each read 9 books and had to answer questions about the books. They got one point for identifying the correct book and another point for naming the author. It was a very close competition with the top 4 teams all being within 2 points of each other. Our team tied for second place and was only 1 point behind the winning team. Our team only got 5 questions wrong in the entire competition! Way to go girls!
