Grace Family Spotlight – The Salinas-Lazarski Family

Elyssa has been attending Grace Lutheran Church since she was a child, and she attended Grace Lutheran School from Kindergarten through 4th grade, which she loved. She is working on her PhD in Theology and teaches theology at Dominican University. Derek works as Director of Accreditation and Assessment at National Louis University. We hope that you have run across this wonderful family already and gotten to know them, but in case you have not, here is a little more information on them and their journey at Grace.

Why did you choose Grace Lutheran School for your children?

Along with our family connections there, we think the teachers are fantastic and the community has been a special thing to be a part of. Also, Cully and Frida have made so many great friends!

What did you love the most about this school year?

This school year has provided our family with such joy, especially seeing our children thrive in the classroom. Frida especially comes home curious about her faith after participating in chapel, and Cully is always so proud to share a new piece of art that he finished in class.

What would you tell another parent who may be considering enrolling their child at Grace?

We also chose Grace because of their care for each child. Elyssa had a time during fourth grade when her mother was hospitalized and the care she received during that traumatic time was paramount to her development as well as her desire to have her children part of such a loving community. When a child is at Grace, they are family.
