Grace Graduate News – Joshua Curry

Grace Lutheran School is proud to spotlight alumnus Joshua P. Curry for his outstanding recent achievements in the field of computer science. Joshua’s dedication and hard work have earned him notable recognition, including an honor from Fenwick High School for his exceptional work in computer science. Additionally, he has been awarded the prestigious ComEd Future of Energy $2500 scholarship, underscoring his promise and potential in the field.

Joshua’s journey through the world of computer science is marked by significant milestones. At Fenwick High School, he has demonstrated academic excellence, reflected in his Honor Roll status and rigorous coursework, including Honors and Advanced Placement classes in subjects like Applied Calculus, Physics, and Government. Joshua’s curriculum highlights his strong foundation in STEM, with a particular focus on computer programming and advanced mathematics.

Beyond the classroom, Joshua has actively engaged in enriching experiences to bolster his skills. He has been involved with the Black Data Processing Associates since 2023, where he has mastered multiple computer languages. His participation in the Qubit Mechanic Fermilab Target Internship during the summer of 2023 was a standout experience. Here, Joshua was selected for a competitive internship as a rising senior.

Joshua’s leadership extends beyond academics. Since 2013, he has been an active member of the Jack and Jill of America, Western Cook County Chapter. As a student leader, he has organized community service initiatives, including clothing, food, and water drives, and has engaged in research on African American history. His commitment to service is further exemplified through his involvement with Kidz Express in Chicago and St. Catherine-St. Lucy where he has mentored students.

Joshua has returned to Grace, this time as an employee in our extended care program. Josh connects with and supervises our younger students from school dismissal until 6 pm at least three times a week. We are honored to have been a part of his academic journey and feel so grateful that he has returned to serve our new generation of students. We are incredibly proud of you, Josh. We look on with eager anticipation at the bright future ahead of you!
