What is GPO and why does it matter?
The Grace Parent Organization (GPO) is an integral part of our school community, and its impact reaches far beyond the events they organize. At its heart, GPO is all about building a strong, connected community among our families, fostering relationships that enrich the Grace Lutheran School experience for everyone involved.
Mary and Luz, our current co-chairs, have done an exceptional job this year. They’ve stepped into their roles with enthusiasm and dedication, following in the footsteps of our previous lead co-chair, Emily Hartung, who was an incredible leader. Mary and Luz have not only learned the ropes quickly but are also leading us into the 2024-2025 school year with fresh ideas and a strong focus on community building. They have planned amazing events that we’re all looking forward to, and they’re placing an even bigger emphasis on giving back to our teachers—a gesture that truly matters.
So, why is GPO so important? For starters, it’s about more than just organizing events. It’s about creating a welcoming environment where families feel connected to one another and to the school. When parents are involved, whether by volunteering for an hour, helping out at an event, or participating in planning, it makes a huge difference. Every contribution, big or small, adds value to our school community. This involvement is essential not only because it supports our school’s activities but also because it models the importance of community and service to our children.
When parents are active participants in their children’s education, it sends a powerful message: their school matters, their education matters, and they matter. The relationships built through GPO help create a supportive network where families can lean on each other, celebrate together, and work through challenges as a community. This sense of belonging is invaluable, and it’s something we strive to nurture at Grace.
As we look ahead to the new school year, we encourage all parents to get involved with GPO in any way they can. Whether you can volunteer just once or ten times, stay for an hour, or help throughout an entire event—every bit counts, and we appreciate it all. Parents are essential to what we do at Grace Lutheran School, and together, we can continue to make our school a place where faith, knowledge, character, and community thrive.
Thank you, Mary, Luz, and all the parents who contribute to making Grace Lutheran School such a special place. We’re excited to see what this year will bring and grateful for the continued support of our wonderful school community.
