1. What ages and grades does Grace Lutheran School serve?
We serve students from age 3 (must be 3 by September 1st to attend Pre-K) up to 8th grade.
2. What is the mission of Grace Lutheran School?
Our mission is to bring in, build up, and send out disciples of Jesus by building students in faith, knowledge, and character.
3. What are the class sizes at Grace Lutheran School?
Class sizes vary based on grade level. The Pre-K class is currently capped at 12 students, while the 8th-grade class is capped at 24 students.
4. How does Grace Lutheran School integrate faith into education?
Faith is at the core of what we do. Each class includes Bible lessons, prayers, discussions about God, and a weekly all-school chapel service held on Wednesdays.
5. What extracurricular activities are available at Grace Lutheran School?
We offer a variety of extracurricular activities, including sports such as volleyball, cross country, basketball, and track and field. Some sports begin in 3rd grade, while others start in 5th grade. We also have clubs such as Radio Club, Robotics Club, Chess Club, and Spanish Club for specific age groups.
6. What additional subjects and activities do students experience?
In addition to core academic classes, our students enjoy “specials” such as music, choir, library, P.E., German, technology, and art. We also provide a few theatre opportunities to enrich their creative and performing arts experiences.
7. Do Grace Lutheran students go on field trips?
Yes! We love field trips and encourage our teachers to take as many as possible to enrich our students’ education. Past field trips have included visits to theatre shows, the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, local businesses, Brookfield Zoo, Shedd Aquarium, Museum of Science and Industry, and LEGOLAND, just to name a few.
8. What are the academic expectations at Grace Lutheran School?
Grace has high academic standards and strives to walk alongside your child to help them meet those standards. Students must be willing to learn and be coachable to succeed.
9. How does Grace Lutheran School encourage students to serve others?
We believe in fostering a heart for service. Starting in 6th grade, students are required to complete service hours, but even our younger students are given opportunities to serve. Teachers create meaningful projects, such as 4th grade’s lemonade stand to raise funds for refugees. Additionally, our annual Walk with Grace walkathon not only supports our school but also collects food for Beyond Hunger, helping those in need in our community.
10. When should I apply?
You must apply by May 15, 2025, to be considered for the 25-26 school year. The entire admissions process must be completed before July 1st.
