Grace School Reading Team Makes History at Regionals

A Milestone Worth Celebrating!

Just four days ago, something incredible happened at Grace School—our Reading Olympics team made school history! For the first time ever, the same three students—Henry, Austin, and Torsten—advanced to Regionals in both the fall and the spring seasons.

In the fall, the team took home 1st place, and in the spring, they held their own in an extremely competitive round, landing a three-way tie for 3rd place. It was a tough field, with even a tie for 1st place, but our team showed teamwork and a love for reading that truly stood out.

This achievement is more than just a win—it’s an inspiration. It proves to our current and future students that you CAN do amazing things with hard work, passion, and dedication. These three students didn’t just win—they set a new precedent at Grace School. We hope our current fourth graders are fired up, eager to meet—and maybe even surpass—the bar that’s been set!

Why the Reading Olympics Matter

The Reading Olympics is about more than just answering questions correctly. It challenges students to:

  • Read widely across genres and styles
  • Think critically about plot, character development, and themes
  • Collaborate closely with teammates
  • Communicate their thoughts clearly and confidently under pressure

All of these skills translate beautifully to the classroom—and beyond. Students improve in comprehension, vocabulary, writing, and public speaking. But perhaps just as importantly, they grow in confidence. Being part of a team, having their efforts recognized, and seeing how far their curiosity and commitment can take them—it’s empowering.

We’re incredibly proud of Henry, Austin, and Torsten. Not just for the medals, but for showing what’s possible when students embrace learning and rise to a challenge. We hope their journey motivates others to grab a book, join a team, and believe in what they can achieve.

Here’s to the future of reading at Grace School—and to all the stories still waiting to be written.
