Celebrating National Library Week at Grace School!
April is National School Library Month, a time to celebrate the essential role school libraries play in encouraging literacy, curiosity, and a love for reading. At Grace School, we embraced the celebration with a fun-filled week starting April 7 in honor of National Library Week—and our students had a blast!
One of the most popular activities was the emoji book title guessing game. Each week, students were challenged to decipher book titles using only a string of emojis. Those who cracked the code earned a special prize: a button featuring a beloved book cover. These buttons quickly became a hot item, with Mrs. Bramwell giving out over 140 buttons in just one week!
Another big hit was the “Guess How Many Candies Are in the Jar” contest. This activity lasted the entire month, but there was a twist—students had to earn their guesses. To participate, they filled out a ticket describing a book they had recently read. The more books they shared, the more chances they had to win. The final guesses were tallied on April 25, and the big winner was 5th grader Grant, who guessed 309 candies—just two off from the actual total of 311!
For our younger readers, the library hosted an engaging scavenger hunt. Favorite book characters were hidden throughout the library, and students were invited to explore and discover them. This activity sparked plenty of excitement and got even the newest readers engaged in the joy of storytelling.
A big thank you to Mrs. Bramwell for organizing such a memorable week. Her creativity and passion for books made National Library Week a highlight of the school year.
