Grace’s Creative Writing Club

At Grace Lutheran School, our Creative Writing Club offers students a chance to explore their imaginations and improve their writing skills in a supportive and fun environment. Meeting every other week during lunchtime, this club brings together a group of enthusiastic students in grades 6-8, all eager to share their ideas and collaborate.

Each session starts with students sharing the stories they’ve written on Google Classroom. Some even take it a step further by reading their stories aloud during our meetings, which adds an extra layer of excitement. It’s always amazing to hear the students provide constructive feedback to one another and brainstorm new prompts that spark even more creative ideas.

At the end of each meeting, a new writing prompt is given to every member, encouraging them to think outside the box. Some of this year’s most fun and inventive prompts have included Last Person on Earth, Superhero Backstory, Santa’s Childhood, and Cupid Misses His Shot. The variety keeps things fresh and pushes the students to dive into different genres and perspectives.

This year, the club is led by Ava Watson, an eighth-grade student who took on the role of facilitator. Frau Lyle is there to supervise and guide the group, but Ava has done a wonderful job encouraging participation and helping students stay motivated. It’s a great opportunity for students to take on leadership roles while exploring their creative potential.

We look forward to seeing how these young writers continue to grow and inspire one another throughout the year.
