Walk with Grace 2025
Once again, our students had the opportunity to walk, serve, and share at the Grace School Walkathon. Grace students collected and donated 2,393 pounds of food to Beyond Hunger, helping support families right here in our community. Thank you to everyone who participated, donated, and made this day of service such a success. The Walkathon was a wonderful reminder of what can happen when we come together in faith, service, and school spirit!
This year marked the 15th annual Walk with Grace Walk-a-thon, our first fundraiser of the school year. Walk with Grace is more than just a fundraiser—it’s a day that blends fun, fitness, and community service. Students raise pledges to support Grace Lutheran School while also collecting food for Beyond Hunger, a local organization that provides hunger relief to families in need.
Leading up to the big day, students participated in a school-wide food drive, filling bins with non-perishable items. The class that collected the most food earned a special prize, but everyone won by contributing to such a meaningful cause.
On the day of the event, students from preschool through junior high walked varying distances—ranging from one mile for our youngest students to six miles for our older ones—through River Forest. Along the way, they gathered even more food donations to be delivered to Beyond Hunger later that day.
And, of course, the Walkathon ended with plenty of fun and games! Every student enjoyed class activities, and some lucky students had the chance to compete with their teachers in the ever-popular teacher games. Families earned tickets toward these games for every $100 raised, with extra chances available for those who created a PledgeStar account and reached out to supporters.
Thanks to the incredible efforts of our students, staff, faculty, and parents, we met our $30,000 fundraising goal! Every student received a Walkathon t-shirt and had a half day of celebration, but most importantly, they learned about the joy of giving and serving others.
We are so proud of our students for their enthusiasm and generosity. The Walk with Grace walkathon continues to be a highlight of our school year—a day where faith, service, and community come together in a powerful way.
