Building Leaders at Grace: Our First-Ever Student Council
This school year marks an exciting new chapter at Grace Lutheran School—the launch of our very first Student Council! The program was created to give students opportunities to grow as leaders, collaborate with their peers, and contribute to the life of our school community in meaningful ways.
Our inaugural Student Council members were elected this fall and have already hit the ground running. Congratulations to:
Yael (President), Lance (Vice President), Mae (Secretary), Shelby and Ava (8th Grade Representatives), Olivia (7th Grade Representative), and Brynn and Giavanni (6th Grade Representatives).
Together, these students represent a range of voices and grade levels, and they are already demonstrating the energy and creativity that make Grace students shine.
Their first official project was a donut sale fundraiser, held last week. The event was a sweet success, thanks to enthusiastic support from both students and staff. Through this first experience, council members learned the importance of planning, communication, and teamwork—all while having fun and raising funds for future projects.
Looking ahead, the Student Council’s next endeavor will take them beyond the classroom and into the community. On Thursday, November 20, they’ll participate in the River Forest Holiday Tree Trimming. This cherished tradition brings Grace Church and School together to decorate a Christmas tree that represents our shared community. Students in Senior Kindergarten through 2nd grade are crafting ornaments for the school, while Sunday School students are preparing ornaments for the church. The Student Council will join school and church staff to decorate the tree, helping symbolize the connection between faith, service, and celebration at Grace.
We’re so proud of this new group of student leaders. Their enthusiasm, initiative, and care for our community are already making a difference. As the year unfolds, we look forward to seeing the Student Council continue to grow, lead, and serve with the spirit of Grace Lutheran School at heart.
