Admission policies

Admission Criteria

We foster a diverse community filled with families who want to help us live out our mission. All of our applicants should be the appropriate age for the grade level they’re applying to, able to thrive in our school’s environment, and prepared to follow our challenging curriculum.

Age Requirements

Your child must be three years old before September 1 to apply to our preschool program. For our junior and senior kindergarten programs, students must be four and five years old respectively by September 1 to enroll.

When to Enroll

We begin accepting applications one year before the fall start date and notify new families of acceptance once all steps of the admissions process are completed.
Applications must be submitted by May 15, and the admissions process must be fully completed by July 1st to ensure consideration.

Student Visit and Assessment

Students entering first through eighth grade will be asked to visit for an informal assessment, while students entering preschool through senior kindergarten will be asked to come to Grace School for a modified student visit.

Forms and Records

Submit the confidential Record Release Form and Teacher and Principal Report forms to your child’s current school. These forms should be returned directly to Grace School. For second through eighth grade, we ask that you provide copies of transcripts and standardized test scores from the current and last two school years.

Nondiscrimination Policy

We consider students based on individual merit and do not discriminate against prospective students or their families on the basis of race, color, ethnicity, gender, religion, national origin, socioeconomic status, sexual orientation and identity, or family makeup.

Frequently asked questions.

When should I begin the admissions process?

We begin accepting applications one year prior to the start of the school year in which the new student will be enrolled. It is best to complete the application process as early as possible, as classes fill quickly. Applications, materials and assessments must be completed and returned at least two weeks before the first day of school.

Where do I begin?

The first step is to schedule a tour. Our Director of Enrollment and Marketing will show you around, answer all your questions, and walk you through the admission process.

When will I find out if my child is accepted to the school?

We begin re-enrollment for our current families in January, and will begin admitting new applicants in February. We continue accepting applications through the summer, as class sizes permit.

Is there an opportunity to meet the principal?

Every family applying for admission will meet with the school principal, Bill Koehne. Interviews offer parents and the principal the opportunity to ask questions and to determine if Grace Lutheran School is the best fit for the student and family.
