Resilience and Adaptability in Sharing Art with Audiences

Janet Bouman Peterson, GLS ’73, Artistic Director, Acacia Theater, Milwaukee; and Bill Rohlfing, GLS ‘81, Independent sound engineer and voice actor

Theatre has the power to create empathy and to carry us to places of comfort, challenge, laughter, tears, and inspiration. Recent loss of access to live performances disrupted artists and audiences alike. Yet unexpected gains – time to reflect read, or concentrate, the discovery of new talents and media skills – demonstrate the adaptability of the practitioner and the resilience of the dramatic arts. Join a lively conversation with professional and dedicated amateur artists whose experiences at Grace School inform their work. You will likely have special memories to share as well!

Doing Well by Doing Good
Personal Ethics and Social Responsibility in the Corporate Environment

Craig Mindrum, Grace School parent, CEO Mindrum Strategies

A new generation of corporate workers is making demands on their employers, or prospective employers, to be socially responsible—to be accountable and committed to contributing to the well-being of communities and society through various social, charitable and environmental measures. Corporate social responsibility (CSR) concerns customers too, who judge a company by how its activity affects society at large. “Doing well by doing good” is the phrase often used to describe this corporate attitude. But is that really possible? What type of organization do you work for? What inspires you, and these organizations, to maximize their positive social impact? Join a lively conversation that may prompt you to reflect on the ways a Grace education informs your thinking about this topic.
